What a DIT actually does on set

A DIT (digital imaging technician) looks after your camera data from the moment a card leaves the camera.

The work includes safe offloading with checksum verification, multiple backups, look and LUT management, and an organised handover to the edit.

The biggest risk on a shoot is rarely a bad shot. It is losing a card, and a DIT is there to make sure that never happens.

Quick takeaways

  • Ask for two verified backups before any card is reformatted
  • Agree folder naming before day one
  • Share the LUT with your editor early
DIT Safe data, on-set colour and clean handover.
